Ford unveiled the 2024 Mustang at the Detroit Auto Show this month. The seventh-generation Mustang continues to offer a 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 5.0-liter V-8, and more power is expected from both. While the four is automatic only, a manual is available with the V-8.

Otherwise, the most exciting news from Ford is the F-150 Raptor R’s engine, the same 5.2-liter Predator supercharged V-8 found in the Shelby GT500. In pickup, it pumps out 700 ponies and 640 lb-ft.

Ford’s baby pickup, the Maverick, adds an off-road advantage with the new Tremor package. The Maverick Tremor gets an updated four-wheel drive system, beefier suspension and a one-inch lift that allows it to go a little further off-road. It also has a steel support and towing hooks. The XLT and Lariat trim levels offer a $2,995 package exclusively paired with a 250-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.

We should see Ford’s all-new Ranger in 2023, though a US spec is still under consideration. Expect a 270-hp 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Crew and extended cab bodies will have a more modern interior with a standard 10.1-inch touchscreen and an optional 12.1-inch display. The Ranger Raptor is also in the works. We expect it to have a 392-horsepower twin-turbo V-6 and upgraded Bronco Raptor suspension.

Three years later, the Escape received a facelift, and strong demand for the electric F-150 Lightning inspired Ford to raise prices by $6,000 to $8,500. Mustang Mach-E prices are also on the rise. No word on the Mach-E de Sade package, but we hope so. The Super Duty also received an updated look and a new engine. The rest of the lineup — Expedition, Explorer, Bronco, Edge and Transit — continues with minor changes. Ford hasn’t confirmed, but we expect the Transit Connect and EcoSport to die, with 2022 being the last year for the GT.
