By Sam Volz: Demetrius ‘Boo Boo’ Andrade took to social media to tell his fans to calm down following his decision to pull out of his fight with Zach Parker.

Andrade (31-0, 19 KOs) and Parker should fight for the interim WBO super middleweight title. However, Andrade chose to pull out of the fight, which makes sense given that he won’t have a big purse for the fight.

Former two-division world champion Andrade is rumored to be in for a bigger fight than Parker at 168. It’s unclear who Andrade’s opponent will be, but it would make sense if he faces David Benavidez or the WBA . The ‘regular’ middleweight champion David Morrell.

Boo Boo Andrade: We’re just getting started. Keep calm🀫😏 #itsmeagain πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡» @velozboxing85 @ddelgado7,” Demetrius Andrade said on Instagram.

Andrade wanted to fight Parker to become the WBO 168-lb mandatory for middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez. However, that will not happen now.

But even if Andrade takes the fight and defeats Parker, it looks like Canelo will give up his WBO title to avoid a fight with him. Canelo has shown no interest in fighting Andrade in the past, and that is not something that will change if he is forced to fight by the World Boxing Federation.

Andrade recently vacated his WBO middleweight title instead to defend Janibek Alimkhanuly. This will be a tougher fight than the 34-year-old Demetrius is worth.

Andrade won the WBO 160-lb title in 2018, hoping he can use the belt to gain an advantage against Canelo, Gennadiy Golovkin, and Jermall Charlo.

Unfortunately for Demetrius, none of these fighters showed interest in fighting him, and he soon found out that he was no better at 160 than he was when he held the WBA & WBO titles at 154- lb.

Andrade is this era’s version of Paul Williams. Like Williams, the top 154 and 160 fighters have eluded Andrade. By moving up to 168, Andrade hoped he could put himself in a position to force Canelo to fight him, but it didn’t seem to happen. It’s likely to be the case that Andrade will need to compromise to fight Benavidez and Morrell instead of getting a shot at Canelo.
