Vince D’Writer: Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield headlined the Golden Boy Fight Night event on October 20, live on DAZN at the Fantasy Springs Hotel & Casino in Indio, California. Schofield was surprised, as he scored on a free kick by goalkeeper Daniel Rosas.

In August 2022, the blue-chipman made his debut under the Golden Boy Promotions banner by stopping Rodrigo Guerrero in the fifth round on the Vergil Ortiz vs Michael Mckinson card at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. Immediately following his impressive win, Schofield is scheduled to headline Golden Boy Fight Night in October.

The 20-year-old entered the ring last Thursday night thinking that he could end the fight in one round, because the night before, Schofield dreamed of ending him in the first round with a body shot. . Once the bell rang Schofield tried to make his dream come true as he threw and landed several strikes.

Rosas is pinned against the ropes and goes down, but it’s no decision because Schofield pushes him. Once Rosas got up, Schofield continued to attack his opponent’s body and head. With Rosas back on the ropes again, Schofield measured him with a jab, then landed a right, followed by a left hook that knocked out Daniel Rosas.

The scheduled 8-round fight lasted just 97 seconds as Floyd Schofield (12-0, 10 KOs) commanded on the move and collected an easy victory. Daniel Rosas (22-6-1, 14 KOs) was in retreat mode throughout the entire bout, and before he was knocked out, he only landed two punches.

After a brief stint in the ring, Floyd Schofield is expecting another fall in 2022.

“Hopefully I can get another fight before the end of the year, and I want all the top dogs that they call prospects, because I’m the biggest prospect, and I think I’ve proven that.”

The heavyweight division features undisputed champion Devin Haney and contenders such as Vasily Lomachenko and Gervonta Davis. Add in the newly minted Shakur Stevenson, and the lightweight division is arguably the highest weight class in boxing.

The heavyweight division also has a lot of depth as it has great fighters like Isaac Cruz, Jo Jo Diaz, and William Zepeda. In addition to stars and contenders, the heavyweight division also has a good crop of blue chips.

Although many prospects are on the radar, Floyd Schofield feels like that number should be reduced. “Marc Castro, Keyshawn Davis, all of them, whoever they think is a possibility to leave the fight, let’s see who is hopeful. It cannot be twenty of us, only one can come out on top”.

The Floyd Schofield-Keyshawn Davis fight has a nice ring to it, but in the sport of boxing it seems like a tradition to spend a good amount of time doing water. Hopefully this is an instant fight, and can be penciled into the 2023 boxing schedule.
