A product of Santa Clara, Cuba, Morrell currently resides in his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a young, skilled boxer with impressive skills, and is on his way to becoming a major force in the middleweight division. Despite being in the early stages of his boxing career, Morrell has the composure of a seasoned veteran. He is a heavy duty person who likes to work in sharp areas.
In December 2021, Morrell faced a man who everyone assumed would be his first type of test when he fought Alantez Fox, a ring veteran who came into the fight with a record (28-2-1, 13 KOs). Hopefully, the two will be able to face each other in the ring sometime in 2023, but for now, Morrell must take care of his business on November 5 when he defends his (regular) title against the WBA number by one. Morrell’s upcoming fight with Aidos Yerbossynuly is a dangerous fight because Yerbossynuly is a very aggressive boxer who likes to stay in the pocket.
The November 5th fight between Morrell and Yerbossynuly has the potential to be a friendly match because of the way both boxers tend to come forward, throw strikes, and show the pace of the match. Both shared the same opponent, as Yerbossynuly knocked out Lennox Allen in September 2021, but Allen was able to stay on his feet and take the distance when he fought Morrell in August 2020.
David Morrell is a talented young man who believes he deserves to be mentioned in the same conversation as David Benavidez and Caleb Plant. Morrell’s skill set could elevate Morrell’s name in elite circles or, at the very least, help Morrell get one step closer.
