Right now, the Filipino player Charly Suarez is suspected of the world championship title, where the champion has implemented the plan to defend the title that he is expected to do, apparently as a plan to buy the IBF belt in just six weeks.

Using his round-robin skills, Suarez, who is the most decorated in the Philippines, continued his unbeaten professional record with a 12-round knockout victory over Carlo Magali at the weekend in Sucat, Para├▒aque.

Suarez was defending the World Boxing Super-featherweight title, as well as seeking the Philippine title, and he easily got the job by scoring 119-109 (twice) and 118-110 on the scorecards.

Magali is seen as Suarez’s most important test today, as the national champion has a good reputation for tackling opponents. It ended the Commonwealth Games gold medalist’s unbeaten career in recent years and, obviously, sadly ended the life of Australian great Davey Browne after a tough competition in the country.

The crowd at the Flash Grand Ballroom of the Elorde Sports Center erupted with Magali, but Suarez had no trouble stopping his opponent with a long-range shot. It was a frustrating night for Magali, who turned in his best performance, but was unable to lay a glove on the speedy Suarez.

The win moved Suarez to 13-0 with seven shutouts, and Magali’s win put him in line for an immediate return on Dec. 10 in Vietnam. Suarez is looking to quickly rise to the top 10 of the major sanctioning bodies, and will look to add the IBF belt to his collection when he fights at the Grand Ho Tram Strip in Vietnam on December 10.

“We are following his ascension to world class,” said Suarez’s head coach and national player Delfin Boholst.

“Charly is perfect (for the title shot) because of his age and his experience (fighting in the big fans),” Boholst added.

Although he is already 34, Suarez has fought well, and once faced Vasyl Lomachenko with an interesting back story.

Called up on just 3 days’ notice, Suarez turned down the initial offer to fight the Ukrainian champion due to injuries to both shoulders. Ultimately, he agreed to help the promoters so that the big show could go on with their marquee fighter, with Suarez promising to give his best despite the conditions.

He did so well in fact, that he was inundated with offers, including from Top Rank. However, Suarez was forced to refuse promotion, due to the severity of his shoulder injury, he was unable to fight again for almost two years.

Apparently, Charly Suarez also has wins over former world champions Oscar Valdez and Joe Cordina when competing on the amateur circuit, so he definitely has the level to take his professional game to the next level.
