By Robert Segal: Eddie Hearn said the date they will look at Anthony Joshua’s next fight is December 17, now that his fight with Tyson Fury has stopped happening.

Hearn did not say who former second heavyweight champion Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) could fight on December 17, but as he has said before, it will likely be a top 20 contender.

Joshua doesn’t have much time to prepare himself for the fight, but he will probably pick a good opponent.

“Finally, it is not possible to fight now. Can it be done? Yes, 100%,” said Eddie Hearn to iFL TV about the Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua fight. “We were told very clearly by Mr. Fury that the fight was dead, and there was no way he was going to take the fight.

“From AJ’s point of view, I don’t think he wants to deal with him, and we’ve been told that twice. One is the last, the last time. We will look at the dates and locations. December 17 is a day we love.

“The choice of venue is not good on December 17. Wembley Arena is a big arena, but in terms of size, I think it holds 10,000, 11,000. But AK wants out. He practiced a lot.

December 3rd was not a perfect day, then someone started playing this back to me like I was saying last night. ‘Look, look, it’s not a date.’ I’ve said that a million times. We wanted December 17th. They [Team Fury] he said to us, ‘No. The only way you’re going to get a fight is on December 3rd,’ and AJ said, ‘I agree to fight that day.’

“It gives him a little time because he’s still coming off a 12-round defeat against the #1 pound-for-pound [Oleksandr Usyk]. So, it will continue, and we will continue to play.

“He [Joshua] The agreement was made last Monday when Tyson Fury publicly insulted him and he said, ‘The battle is over.’ Then when he did it again on Thursday, and said, ‘The fight off, go back to the queue with the rest, you big dosser.’

“How many times do you have to say it before the other person says, ‘You know what? Let it go.’ But it was like, they didn’t come back after he said that. No, he didn’t. It’s okay because, as John said, we cost AJ £110m,” said Hearn.
