By Allan Fox: Former two-time WBC middleweight champion Anthony Dirrell took to social media on Monday to congratulate ‘Sweethands’ Caleb Plant on his ninth-round victory Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. New York.
The 37-year-old Dirrell (34-3-2, 25 KOs) admitted he never saw the punch coming from former IBF 168-lb champion Plant who took him in the ninth.
After a knockdown, Dirrell lands some big shots on Plant, and he retreats as he comes under fire. However, Plant stood up and unleashed a left hook that caught Dirrell in the ribs, knocking him out cold.
“I want to congratulate Kaleb, it’s a bit of a punch. I didn’t see it coming at all. Anyway, congratulations,” said Anthony Dirrell on social media, talking about his ninth round loss to Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant from last Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
“I want to tell everybody that if you see this video of him saying, ‘I would never molest a white boy,’ let me know, and I’ll give you ten thousand dollars because I want to know. I’m not racist. the color of my skin.
“So let me know if you all get it and put me in it so I can give you the money. Relationship. Well done, Caleb. Congratulations, champion,” said Dirrell.
That was very sad Plant chose to make fun of Dirrell as he was played on canvas by pretending to shake the dirt off his body.
This was a small step by Plant, who chose the wrong moment to laugh at the beaten Dirrell. It wasn’t right for Plant to pick a lost former world champion to fight instead of a younger, bigger fighter like David Benavidez to fight, but he did laugh at Dirrell after beating him. This is a sad step.
Even if Plant knocks out a skilled fighter like Benavidez, it would be a waste of time to mock him if he’s lucky enough to score a knockout. Canelo Alvarez did not mock Plant after he knocked him out in the 11th round last November.
This is not the type of person that Canelo is, but if he chose to reach this level, the boxers would have been criticized a lot.
