Spot them from a mile away.

Warzone 2.0 is built on the same new game engine as Modern Warfare 2. However, while the two games share content such as weapons, map elements and Operators, they are two very different titles.

In Al Mazrah, Warzone 2.0’s new map, it’s more important than ever to be able to spot enemy players from long distances, so you don’t necessarily want to lower all your settings.

But at the same time, you don’t want to completely tank your framerates with visual effects you don’t need.

Here’s a look at the best settings for the right balance between visibility and performance.

The best settings in Warzone 2.0 for optimal visibility and performance

The settings menu can be accessed by clicking on the gear in the main menu. A handy search bar will let you find the exact settings you want right away without having to go through them all.

Configuration OPTION
Display Mode Full Screen Exclusive
Screen Refresh Highest Available
Dynamic Resolution Off
V-Sync (Gaming) On (Only if you have a G-Sync display)
Custom Frame Rate Limit 57FPS (60Hz), 141FPS (144Hz), 237FPS (240Hz)

While V-Sync is anathema to most gamers, it actually comes in handy if you have a G-Sync display. Contrary to popular belief, it adds almost no input lag when used in conjunction with G-Sync.

To be safe, you should also enable V-Sync in the NVIDIA control panel to override any unwanted triple buffering or frame stepping that the game may implement on its own.

V-Sync helps mitigate frame time variance, which refers to how long a single frame takes to render. When there is a large variation in frame frame times, and the next frame is ready too soon, screen tearing can occur.

The custom frame rate is necessary to ensure that your frame rate does not exceed the maximum refresh rate of your display. If your frame rate exceeds your refresh rate, G-Sync will revert to V-Sync behavior, which means more input lag.

Quality

Quality settings will vary depending on your system’s specifications. The obvious solution to getting more FPS is to turn every setting down to low, but visibility is key in Warzone 2.0, so you have to be careful what you turn down.

In addition, not every setting has the same effect on performance, so you can allow yourself to turn on a select few and enjoy noticeable visual quality gains.

Global Quality

Configuration OPTION
Quality Presets habit
Return Resolution 100
Expansion/Configuration FidelityFX CAS
FidelityFX CAS Strength 75

Details and Textures

Configuration OPTION

Bullet Impact and Sprays On
Shader Quality Low
Tessellation Off
Earth Memory Max
On-Demand Texture Streaming On
Volumetric Quality Low
Delayed Physical Quality Low
Water Caustic Off

If you experience a lot of packet loss or a less than ideal internet connection, you can turn off On Demand Texture Streaming. However, if your connection allows it, texture streaming helps your game look a little better.

Shadow and Light

Configuration OPTION
Shadow Map Resolution Low
Screen Space Shadows Off
Spot Shadow Quality Low
Spot Cache Low
Particle Lighting Low
Surrounding Occlusion Off
Screen Spatial Reflections Off
Static Reflection Quality Low
Water Grid Volumes Off

Post-treatment Effects

There is little benefit in enabling any kind of depth of field or motion blur. If you want every possible competitive advantage in multiplayer, you want everything to be sharp, so all forms of motion blur and film grain should be turned off.

Configuration OPTION
NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency On + Boost
Depth of Field Off
World Motion Blur Off
Weapon Motion Blur Off
Film Grain 0

NVIDIA Reflex Low Latency is a setting exclusive to NVIDIA graphics cards. It’s specifically designed to reduce latency in competitive shooters and is worth keeping going at all times.

Field of view is another largely personal choice. A higher FOV allows you to take in more of the battlefield and get more information instantly. However, it also means that targets at a distance will appear smaller.

Configuration OPTION
Field of View (FOV) 100
ADS Field of View affected
Weapon sight By default
