On Saturday, October 15, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Wellington Highway Patrol allegedly observed a Ford Ranger traveling at 75 kilometers per hour in a 60 km/h zone.

Police say that when the vehicle was intercepted, it was being driven by a 28-year-old female driver who was not accompanied by a fully licensed driver, and was carrying six children aged between one and 12.

On October 15, the Wellington Highway Patrol found a Ford Ranger allegedly traveling at 75 kilometers per hour in a 60 km/h zone.

Police said there were no child seats in the vehicle and the one-year-old was being held by only another child.

“The female driver didn’t think it was that bad as she was only taking them to the shops to buy fish and chips (and then) home,” police said on social media.

“All the parents of the children have been notified and have come to collect the children. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $995 and the driver will be summoned to court to face a number of charges,” police said in a Facebook post.

A business was stolen in Rosedale

On Aug. 28 around 4 a.m., police say a business in Rosedale was burglarized.

Police believe the person may be able to assist with the investigation of an incident in which the back door of the business was allegedly opened and cash was taken from the cash register.

The man was wearing a distinctive black Everlast hooded jumper.

Police say this caravan was stolen from a property in Freemans Lane, Stratford, after the locks were cut.

Between October 4 and 11, police said a caravan (pictured) was stolen from a house in Freemans Lane, Stretford, after the locks were cut.

The caravan is a Future Systems Breo 460 model, white with a maroon stripe that peels slightly in the cut. It has a nine-kilogram gas cylinder on the drawbar and a spare tire mounted under it at the back. The access door has a broken lock and traces of a previous entry attempt.

Wellington Police attend Upswing Festival in Porto

On October 14, Wellington Police’s LGBTQ+ Liaison Officers attended the Upswing Festival at the Port of Sale.

The event was organized by Wellington District Youth Council with a focus on young people, positive mental health and celebrating the ways in which young people can be involved in our local community and the importance of their wellbeing.

Lost bicycle in Mafra

A gray Norco mountain bike was left at the Maffra police station on September 11.

The police reported that as of October 14, no one had taken the bicycle.

Don’t give crime a free ride

LOCH Sport Neighborhood Watch and Wellington Police will be holding an anti-theft, number plate screws day on Sunday 30 October at Loch Sport CFA – National Park Road, Loch Sport from 9am to 12pm.

Criminals often use stolen license plates to avoid identification when committing serious crimes such as petrol theft, drug trafficking and burglary.

Community Safety Day

On the morning of 11 October, police held a Wellington Public Safety Day, which brought together emergency services from the Wellington area, water police, the Wellington Highway Patrol and the RAAF Military Police.

Police said the emergency services as well as the Wellington community attended the large venue and thanked everyone who attended, as well as Sale Lions Club for organizing the bouncy castle and sausage sizzle.

Police warn of thefts from unlocked vehicles

POLICE are urging residents to lock their cars if they are left unattended or parked at home overnight due to an increase in thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Bairnsdale area.

Several incidents where a stolen vehicle taunted police during routine patrols in Bairnsdale and Paynesville are also being investigated.
