Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC) has confirmed that the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor will debut in Malaysia on 7 October 2022. This comes after the company previously announced that the performance-oriented pickup will enter its fourth edition. quarter this year – the red unit was even featured on stage at the launch of the regular Ranger range in July.

The Ranger Raptor of the previous first generation was equipped with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBlue twin-turbo diesel engine with a capacity of 213 hp. and a torque of 500 Nm, which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission 10R80 and an all-wheel drive system.

In its latest version, the second-generation model received a 3.0-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine taken from the Bronco Raptor. The mill is paired with the same 10R80 and 4WD system and produces 397 hp. at 5,650 rpm and 583 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm, with this transmission being standard on the Ranger Raptor in most markets.

However, the automaker said the turbodiesel will continue to be offered in select markets where the V6 isn’t suitable. We’ll have to wait until launch to confirm which engine we’ll be getting, but in Australia and Thailand, the Ranger Raptor gets a V6.

Aside from the engine talk, the Ranger Raptor will feature a reinforced chassis that will withstand all the abuse, including unique mounts and structural reinforcements. The suspension has also been redesigned to include lightweight aluminum upper and lower control arms, with updated Fox adaptive dampers that reduce friction by around 50% compared to the outgoing model.

The four-wheel drive system also received a new two-speed electronically controlled transfer case, and both axles received differential locks. Last but not least, the pickup has a style that blends in harmoniously with highlights such as a vented hood, flared wheel arches, skid plates and chunky tires that complement the design changes already introduced to the last-generation Ranger.

If you want to be one of the first Malaysians to see the Ranger Raptor in action on the Baja-inspired circuit near the Sepang International Circuit, SDAC invites you to register for the public launch on October 7-9 on its website. You’ll also be able to get up close and personal with the Ranger Raptor, as well as regular Ranger variants and the latest Everest in the west.
