Maya Jama is reportedly in talks to host the BRIT Awards in February 2023.

The presenter, 28, could be set to take the lead, it has been claimed – after impressing bosses as a reporter at the event when comedian Mo Gilligan hosted it earlier this year.

It’s been a busy month for Maya, who has been confirmed as the new Love Island host, replacing Laura Whitmore.

If chosen, Maya will be the first solo female host of the annual music awards held in London since Cat Deeley presented in 2004.

A source told The Sun: ‘Maya Jama has proven to be a really confident and competent host and the young people love her, which is important for an event like the Brit Awards.

‘Since he helped out earlier this year, his star power has grown and he is in talks to host the show himself.

‘There are plenty of contenders vying for this year’s job as show presenter and nothing has been signed – but Maya has made it clear she would love to take on the role.’

However, the BRITs – which take place on February 11 – could clash with South Africa’s Love Island winter series, which she will host in the New Year.

Representatives for Mayer have been contacted by MailOnline for comment.

Last year The Masked singer took over as host from judge Mo Jack Whitehall, who stepped down from the BRITs after four years presenting the awards show.

This comes after it was announced that Maya will start hosting the first of two series of Love Island to be shot in South Africa from early 2023.

Maya said in a statement: ‘I’ve always been such a huge Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the country’s favorite shows! I can’t wait to get into the villa to meet all the islanders.’

Both Maya and Love Island shared a video of her scrolling through stories of her being the rumored host on various media outlets to confirm the news.

Maya wrote in the comments section: So bloody excited. Take me to that island. ❤️’

Fans think he is the perfect choice to replace Laura.

They took to Twitter straight away, writing: ‘Maya Jama would be a great Love Island host.’

‘Good news for love island arrangement Maya accumulates!’

‘Maya Jama is hosting Love Island and she’s going to be hotter than the girls on the original show.’

Director of Reality Programming and Acquisitions, Paul Mortimer, said: ‘Finding a new host to follow the amazing Laura Whitmore has never been easier.

‘However in Maya Jamaat, we have another high profile fan of the show who will be a great addition to the Love Island family.

‘Cool, charming and charismatic, I speak for all of us when I say Mayao will bring a unique presentation style to the show, as will Laura and of course, the much-missed Caroline Flack. We are delighted to have him on board.’

Laura announced in August this year that she was quitting the show and would not be returning to host the next series of the ITV2 dating show.

The Irish presenter, 37, returned in 2020 and hosted the hugely popular reality program and its spin-off Aftersun for three series.

Yes! It comes after Maya was confirmed as the new host and the first of two series to be shot in South Africa will come out in early 2023.
