In the history of the Billboard Latin Music Awards, many Latin icons — such as Celia Cruz (1994), Vicente Fernandez (1998) and Daddy Yankee (2021) — have been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Special awards are given to artists who have achieved worldwide recognition for their work, transcending musical genres and languages.

During his speech, Yankee – who received a standing ovation from the stage – said: “This is incredible. Thanks to the family for this moment. As you all know, I started at 15 with big dreams and maybe some of you are right now. And , it took me three decades to realize that with discipline, wisdom and determination you can get to this point. It’s about talent and hard work.”

This year, hitmaker Nicki Jam will join the elite group of artists inducted into the Hall of Fame. The award will recognize the reggaeton artist (known for anthemic songs like “El Pardon” and “Travesurras”), actor and entrepreneur for his outstanding work. She is also set to perform at the awards show, which will take place Thursday, September 29, at the Watsco Center in Miami and air live on Telemundo beginning at 7pm ET.

As it has for more than 20 years, the Billboard Latin Music Awards – which coincide with Telemundo International, on Telemundo, Universo, Peacock and the Telemundo app, and throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. BillboardIts annual Latin Music Week, the single largest and most important gathering of the Latin music industry, takes place Sept. 26-Oct. 1.

In honor of the upcoming 2022 Billboard Latin Music Awards Show and Hispanic Heritage Month, here are all the Billboard Latin Hall of Fame recipients over the years.
