The 53rd Annual GMA Dove Awards were announced Tuesday night, October 18, 2022, in Nashville, Tennessee. The show airs Friday, October 21st, exclusively on TBN and will rebroadcast throughout the rest of the year. The artists and songwriters of Daywind Music Group had several nominations and two wins and took part in the evening’s performance.
Dove Award winners included Bluegrass/Country/Roots Song of the Year for Dolly Parton’s “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” with Larry Cordle, Carl Jackson, Jerry Salley and Bradley Walker. Daywind proudly congratulates Jerry Salley, Director of A&R and Creative at Billy Blue Records, for his incredible work on the song as well as the album. Country Faith Bluegrass. The song was previously recognized with two Bluegrass Music Awards from the International Bluegrass Music Association earlier this month.
New Day Records artist, The Sound, took home their first Dove Award for Bluegrass/Country/Roots Album of the Year. God is real. Levi Mills gave a heartfelt acceptance speech during the Dove Awards, and the group’s acoustic pre-show awards performance was broadcast minutes later to Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena.
A highlight of the night began as several Daywind artists took part in a “Ladies of Southern and Bluegrass Gospel” performance of the song “Working on a Building” from the Dove-nominated album. Produced by High Road’s Sarah Davison, the segment featured special guests Kenna Turner West, Vicky Vaughn, Sammy Potts and Jelly Roberts along with Karen Peck and the female members of New River, High Road, The Nelons and The Hoppers and voiced by Karen Peck, Autumn Nelon Clarke, Sarah Davison and Kim Hopper.
