Nigerian singer-songwriter Davido’s three-year-old son, Ifeanyi, drowned in the swimming pool of the singer’s home in Lagos as house staff were taken away for questioning. A police spokesperson said Ifeanyi Adeleke died in the singer’s swimming pool in Lagos on October 31, the BBC reports.

Perhaps to overcome the grief, the couple declined to come out with a statement. The busy parents hired a lot of people at their house, but unfortunately, the three-year-old found his way into the pond and drowned.

The child’s body is currently in the morgue and his parents are roaming the police station.

Police have taken the CCTV footage and will investigate the details. They will scrutinize every available footage and talk to staff about how this little life could have been neglected and alone.

Davido is one of Africa’s most prominent superstar singers. Some of the prestigious awards he has won are MTV and BET Music Awards. Davido has creatively collaborated with a number of R&B superstars such as Nicki Minaj and Chris Brown on various musical compositions.

Davido announced his marriage plans with Chioma the following year, which is very sad given what happened in their lives. Davido is well known for four songs in his line up and they are “If”, Fall” “Fia”, and “Assurance”. The last one, Assurance, is dedicated to Chioma.
