Brothers Osborne Defending champion in the running for Vocal Duo of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards. In fact, they have won the award four times in their career so far. If they win again they will tie sugar land As the second most awarded duo in the division’s history.
The sibling duo won three consecutive years from 2016 to 2018. But then Dan and Shaw In 2019 and 2020 Brothers Osborne swooped and captured the next two titles before taking it back in 2021. The rivalry continues this year as both are again nominated for the award, but as of this writing the brothers have a strong advantage with leading odds of 11/2 based on the combined predictions of hundreds of Gold Derby users.
They’re supported by our top 24 users with the highest scores predicting last year’s CMA winners and 24 of our all-star top 24 who made the best predictions when combining the past two years’ CMA results. Compare that to Dan and Shay who are second at odds of 13/2 but only one of our top 24 predicts them to win.
It looks pretty one-sided, but don’t assume it’s an open-and-shut case. Brothers Osborne are coming up as dynamic champions on their side and recently won for the first time at another industry event, the Grammys. But neither Brothers Osborne nor Dan and Shay received any other nominations this year. In fact, none of the vocal duo nominees have any other nominations, so it’s hard to guess who has more support from the Country Music Association this particular year.
And you can never count out fellow nominees Brooks and Dunn, an all-time record holder with an astounding 14 vocal duo wins out of 23 nominations dating back 30 years. They haven’t won since 2006, and they haven’t released a new album since 2019, but in an open year it’s likely voters will pick an old sentimental favorite.
