The host of the 2022 American Music Awards has been revealed, and he’ll likely be disappointed. On October 24, ABC announced that actor, musician and all-around entertainer Wayne Brady will host this year’s awards show. “I’m thrilled and honored to host this year’s AMAs. As a musician and music lover, it’s amazing to be a part of a night where music fans make their voices heard!” Brady said in a statement about the news. “It’s a big show, so I’m bringing it all… the fun, the music, and the moves!”
Brady, who you may recall won “The Masked Singer” Season 2 in 2019, is currently wowing viewers as a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars” Season 31. He emerged as a pioneer, often landing at the top of the leaderboard with him. Partner Whitney Carson. It’s safe to say that the AMAs will have everything it takes to be a successful host.
On October 13, the full slate of nominees was revealed, beginning in the Best New Artist category, presented by Becky G on ABC’s “Good Morning America.” Dove Cameron, GAYLE, Latto, Måneskin, and Steve Lacy all scored nods after their successful years in music.
The rest of the nominations were announced on the American Music Awards’ social media channels, with Bad Bunny leading the way with a total of eight nods, including his first nomination for Artist of the Year. If Bad Bunny takes home eight awards, he will tie Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston for the most awards in a single year. Close behind are Beyoncé, Drake and Taylor Swift, who each scored six nods, and Adele, Harry Styles and The Weeknd, with five nominations each.
