The world of Mutant: Year Zero expands as a miniatures battle game joins the board game and rather fun tactical game Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. (opens in a new tab). Publisher Free League has released a trailer and is running a Kickstarter to fund the game.
Designed for up to four players, Zone Wars is a miniatures game about those free-flowing chaotic battles between multiple sides, where all sorts of madness can be unleashed at the roll of the dice. The Kickstarter (opens in a new tab) looking to fund two boxes of minis, each with two factions, terrain, rules, cards, and dice. If you’re curious, you can hit up the Kickstarter to grab a free print-and-play PDF of it that you can actually print and play or (like me) just throw into your favorite virtual table.
The miniatures game will also be compatible with the tabletop RPG, designed to allow you to take your TTRPG characters into the wasteland or move your favorite Zone Wars guys into the RPG.
The world of Mutant: Year Zero is based on the 1980s Swedish role-playing game Mutant, as interpreted by the 2014 reboot into a new tabletop RPG. A really good fun fact about this one is that it’s designed by Andy Chambers, who you may know from a vast array of miniatures games from Warhammer studio Games Workshop, including cult classics Battlefleet Gothic and Necromunda.
