The performance pickup Ford Ranger Raptor of the new generation has a broken coating. The new model received a host of performance updates as well as features for 2022. Ford claims the latest update has given the truck better off-road capabilities.

One of the key features of the new model is the 284bhp 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine, which replaces the 2.0-litre diesel that came before. In addition to more power, the new engine also provides more torque, which is 491 Nm. The company claims that the new engine block of the updated truck is stronger than the traditional iron unit. The transmission also features an anti-lag system that was originally developed for the firm’s GT road car.

The new Ranger Raptor now features permanent four-wheel drive with an on-demand two-speed transfer case coupled with front and rear locking differentials. In addition to this, other notable additions include seven selectable drive modes and an electronically controlled active exhaust system. The truck uses a specially designed chassis, as well as special Raptor mounts and reinforcements, which help it withstand more severe and difficult driving conditions.

The truck also received an upgraded suspension in the form of Fox shock absorbers. These units are claimed to be the most advanced ever used on a Raptor. These units are filled with Teflon oil, which reduces friction by approximately 50% compared to the existing model.

Dave Byrne, Ford Performance’s chief program engineer for the Ranger Raptor, said: “We knew customers expected performance improvements from the next-generation Ranger Raptor, but I’m not sure they really expected the huge leap we’ve made. It’s a really fun truck to drive and I think the raw performance will blow them away.”

The truck is scheduled to arrive in Europe this summer, after which it will be delivered to customers.
