Mitsubishi Australia has announced a slightly updated Triton range for 2023, with price hikes and some changes to the option line-up.
Headlining the announcement is the addition of the Mitsubishi Triton Sport Edition, a highly specialized limited edition variant with aesthetic changes to stand out from the rest of the Triton family.

Based on the also-new GLS Deluxe variant and priced from $56,440 on-road, the Triton Sport Edition is limited to 400 units and visually differs from the range with dark trim and red accents, while the interior gets leather upholstery with red stitching.
As the Triton Sport Edition is based on the GLS Deluxe, it’s available as a six-speed automatic 4×4 only with the 2.4-litre turbodiesel engine that produces 133kW and 460Nm.
The GLS has also received some small changes, namely the addition of the GLS Deluxe version, which adds some leather to the interior trim, including electrically adjustable and heated seats.
The regular GLS, like the GLX-R, also brings back the SDA1 multimedia system, which Mitsubishi recently dropped due to supply constraints. It has a 7.0-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as two USB ports and an HDMI port.
Two other variants in the range also get minor updates, with the lower-spec GLX getting black side steps as standard for ingress and egress, which Mitsubishi says serve as extra protection against side penetration.
A new ‘Tan Orange Interior’ option package has been added to the top spec GSR, which pretty much matches what it says on the box. It adds “brown-orange” leather accents to the black leather seats, as well as to the console storage box and knee pad. It also adds orange stitching to the black leather trim in places like the doors, steering wheel and parking brake lever. This package adds $1,000 to the price of the regular GSR, available only in the dual-cab 4×4.
Finally, Mitsubishi has dropped one variant from the range, its former base model, the lower-powered GLX Single Cab Chassis petrol version. That means starting price for the Triton now starts at $30,740 for the turbo-diesel GLX, up from $29,240 previously.
It, like many Triton variants, received a price increase of $1,500, while some versions saw a price increase of only $750-$1,000.
The highest starting price for the Triton is now $64,640, for which buyers can purchase the GSR Double Cab with the Tan Orange Package and the Roll Top Tonneau Package.
This comes just a few months after the April 2022 price hike for the Triton range.
Mitsubishi has also standardized the engine across the range to a 133kW/430Nm 2.4-litre turbodiesel four-cylinder, with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, giving claimed fuel efficiency ranging from 7.8L/100km to 8.6L/ 100 km.
The updated versions of the Triton are due to go into production next month, with the first deliveries expected in December.
