Matthews, Missouri (November 8, 2022) – In the district of New Madrid, there was a traffic accident that resulted in injuries. Around 10:25 a.m. on Nov. 7, the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on US Highway 61.

A 2001 Ford Ranger reportedly collided with a 2005 Chevrolet Impala on US Highway 61 in Matthews, Missouri. As a result of the accident, the Chevrolet then crashed into a 2016 Kia Soul. Then a 2019 Ford Taurus crashed into debris that was on the roadway. Cars Kia, Chevrolet and Ford Ranger had to be towed from the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Ford Ranger, 88-year-old Howard Melton of Matthews, Missouri, was fatally injured in the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene by New Madrid County Coroner George Delisle.

The other two victims of the crash, identified as 19-year-old Miranda Norman and 22-year-old Maisie Patrick, were both injured in the crash. The two victims were taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.

The accident is currently under investigation.
