M-Sport has confirmed that testing of its Ford Ranger T1+ will continue this year, despite the decision not to take the car to the Dakar in January.

The Saudi Arabia Marathon remains in the automotive spotlight, but it’s too early for Malcolm Wilson’s first off-road project.

Speaking about the car, which M-Sport is developing in conjunction with Neil Woolridge Motorsport, Wilson told DirtFish: “Development is going really well. We had another really positive week in Dubai with the car, with Adrien [Fourmaux] driving and everything on the way.

“Honestly, I think we could do the Dakar in January, but we’re not 100% sure we can do it the way it needs to be done. Like the rest of the world, we have some supply chain issues – we knew that would be a factor, so we didn’t make any firm commitments before Dakar.

“We continue to test and develop the car throughout this year, the program for that [development] remains absolutely on the right track, and one thing is absolutely certain: we will get there, and when we do, it will be a great car!”
