In September, Ford exported 9,829 units to more than 100 markets around the world.

“It’s heartening to see that global demand for the current Ranger remains strong, even in its run-out phase, and despite the challenges we’ve faced over the past two years,” said Diren Vanmali, chief sales officer.

“The global automotive industry remains severely constrained due to persistent chip shortages and prolonged disruption to delivery logistics due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” Vanmali said. “Accordingly, our operations have been hampered by numerous supply constraints during this year and our production facilities have not been able to operate at full capacity.

“However, the situation is improving thanks to the hard work and dedication of our procurement, manufacturing and logistics departments, as well as our supplier network, and this is reflected in our export performance for September. This bodes well for the upcoming and exciting launch of our next-generation Ranger, which is scheduled for the end of the fourth quarter of this year.”

Ford has invested R15.8 billion in the Silverton plant and tool supplier for the next-generation Ranger. It also contributed to the highest installed capacity of the Silverton plant, which is now capable of producing up to 200,000 vehicles per year.

An additional R600 million has been invested in the Struandale engine plant in Hkeberg to launch the new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine that will power the range-topping next-generation Ranger models. It also unveiled updated versions of the current 2.0-litre single-turbo and twin-turbo engines, which are assembled at the Struandale plant and will form the basis of the new Ranger range.

Ford has generated unprecedented customer interest in the next-generation Everest, as well as the powerful next-generation Ranger Raptor, which will be launched in the first quarter of 2023. With the Silverton plant expanding production of the Ranger, the next-generation Everest and Ranger Raptor are now fully imported from Thailand, rather than assembled locally as was the case with the outgoing range.

“Initial reviews of the next-generation Everest have confirmed our assertion that this versatile and highly efficient new model is raising the bar in the SUV segment. The media highlights the superb performance of the Everest Platinum’s new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine, the extensive array of driver assistance technologies and the unmatched luxury and quality as some of the most impressive aspects of the new Everest,” said Vanmali. said

The next-generation Ranger Raptor is set to take the current model’s unmatched performance to even greater heights, notably replacing the current 2.0-litre biturbo diesel engine with a 292kW 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol engine, which is mated to an even better suspension. and transmission. “Our next-generation Ranger Raptor has generated even more love among our customers, who can’t wait to get behind the wheel of this impressive machine,” said Wanmali.

“As both of these vehicles are manufactured in Thailand, we are unfortunately experiencing the impact of global supply and logistics restrictions that are limiting our delivery capabilities. Our teams are working around the clock to expedite the arrival of vehicles and get them to dealers and customers as quickly as possible. We are confident that the next-generation Everest and Raptor Ranger will meet the expectations of customers who have booked a new car.”
