Sime Darby Auto ConneXion (SDAC), the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, has announced that the all-new Ranger will be heading to East Malaysia as part of the pickup’s debut tour. Launched in July this year, the Ranger is currently offered in six variants priced from RM108,888 without insurance.
In Sarawak, the latest Ranger will be on display at Vivacity Megamall in Kuching from 7 to 11 September 2022. This will be followed by another general inspection which will be held at Suria Sabah Mall in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah from 5 to 9 October.
SDAC also noted that those who received an exclusive invitation to the event will have a seat at the opening ceremonies, where they will also see an in-depth presentation of the Ranger. Registration for invitations opens 30 minutes before the start of the event and can be done here.
All Ranger variants, whether XL, XLT, XLT Plus or WildTrak, come with partial all-wheel drive and the EcoBlue 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The latter is available in two configurations, with the single-turbo version delivering 170 hp. at 3500 rpm and 405 Nm of torque from 1750 to 2500 rpm.
At the same time, the bi-turbo version provides 210 hp. at 3750 rpm and 500 Nm from 1750 to 2000 rpm. Available transmissions vary depending on the variant selected, with six-speed manual, six-speed automatic and 10-speed automatic options.
Built on a significantly updated version of the T6 ladder frame platform, the new Ranger looks even more muscular than before, thanks to a redesigned exterior that is adorned with C-clamp design headlights. The kit list has also been improved from before to include things like large touchscreen infotainment systems and a comprehensive safety package (for higher-end variants).
