3/10 The cabin of the 2023 GMC Canyon is as functional as it is luxurious
While the 2023 GMC Canyon is feature-packed, luxurious, and premium, it never delivers on that by skimping on practicality or functionality. At the end of the day, the Canyon is a truck that gets the job done, and GMC recognizes that in more ways than one. The AT4X truck is equipped with front and rear electronic locks, and to allow the driver to easily engage any set of wheels for better traction, the dashboard offers seven different switches for completely hassle-free operation.
The 11.3-inch multimedia screen is nice enough, but it doesn’t just play media, it also shows off all the cool mechanical settings. This gives more serious off-roaders access to real-time information such as truck angle and roll statistics and overload. The AT4X trim, with all its luxury, has all-weather floor mats because GMC knows the truck will see terrain much rougher than dry asphalt.
2/10 The 2023 GMC Canyon is the perfect answer to the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger
The GMC Canyon has always competed against the Chevy Colorado and Ford Ranger, and the 2023 model is no different. However, there’s no doubt that the truck has raised the bar and solidified its place above the Colorado and Ranger.
The U.S. Spec Ford Ranger likely won’t get the V6 engine it gets overseas, leaving it with a 2.3-liter inline-4 that makes 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, which is much lower than power ratings.
