By Sam Volz: Vasyl Lomachenko will return to the ring this Saturday night, October 29th, in an important fight against Jamaine Ortiz. The fight will be shown on ESPN+ at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Lomachenko is fighting one of the best in the heavyweight division, Ortiz, who recently defeated the former WBO featherweight champion. Jamel Herring.

In terms of talent, Ortiz, 26, is one of the best in the 135-lb division and looks to have done the same thing to George Kambosos Jr that he did to Herring.

A win for Lomachenko (16-2, 11 KOs) could see him challenge for the bantamweight title. Devin Haney next, considering that the 23-year-old athlete did not give up his title until 140, as Paulie Malignaggi, the Nostradamus of boxing, predicted earlier.

Chief prosecutor Bob Arum said that if Haney doesn’t take the fight against ‘The Matrix’ Lomachenko, we will see Shakur Stevenson fighting him in 2023.

The only downside to that clash is that she won’t have four belts on the line if Haney escapes the 135-lb division to get around the talented former world champion Lomachenko.

Loma hopes that Haney will stay at 135 to challenge him for all four belts to become the undisputed champion, but he cannot force him to take the fight.

โ€œThe most suitable battle is Loma. The easiest fight to do, but we just see what happens next,โ€ said Devin Haney to ID Boxing. โ€œThe most suitable battle is Loma.

You guessed it, I didn’t do this to him.โ€ said Haney when asked about his thoughts on the possibility of fighting one of the classic boxers in a match against Lomachenko.

We will see when we get in the ring if he is what he says he is.” said Haney.

“Yeah, that’s the plan, but also, I’m going to contact Haney, I’m going to contact Lomachenko, and I’m going to talk to Shakur Stevenson. Anyway, in the first quarter of next year, we’re going to have a big heavyweight championship match, Bob Arum told ID Boxing when asked if he would try to put together a fight between Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko next if Loma wins on Saturday night.

โ€œWell, he wants to, yes. Shakur loves the competition,” Arum said of Shakur Stevenson entering the mix in weight.
