By Brian Webber: Shakur Stevenson was not happy with what he saw from Vasyl Lomachenko last Saturday night when he defeated #8 WBC light heavyweight contender Jamaine Ortiz by a unanimous decision in the 12th round at Madison Square Garden in New York. .
Shakur stated during the fight that the 34-year-old Lomachenko is not the fighter he used to be. “Sankali and old” beat him.
Of course, Lomachenko is smarter than he was nine years ago when he started his professional career against Jose Luis Ramirez in 2013.

The 24-year-old Stevenson’s Tweets last Saturday night after the 34-year-old Lomachenko’s victory suggested that he thought the next big fight should happen because the undisputed heavyweight championship should be between him and Haney (29-0, 15 KOs).
Unfortunately for Shakur (19-0, 9 KOs), the chances of him taking the place of Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) as a challenge for the 23-year-old Haney are slim and nonexistent.
Stevenson hasn’t fought at heavyweight yet, so it’s unlikely he’ll get a shot at Haney ahead of Lomachenko, who’s been grinding at 135 since 2018.

Lomachenko’s mistake in his fight with Jamaine Ortiz is what made his mind be relaxed in the contract because he seemed to be overpowered by at least 15 kilos last Saturday night.
Lomachenko is fighting a guy who is bigger than him, and appears to be two weight classes above him in size. In fact, Lomachenko is more of a 126 to 130-pounder rather than a heavyweight.
Loma should be fighting at featherweight instead of heavyweight, facing guys like Jamaine who look like they belong in the 140-pound division.
If Lomachenko is going to insist on being a heavyweight for money, he’s going to have to get used to fighting people who are bigger than him.
