By Dan Ambrose: Ryan Garcia is showing signs of panic as his big money fight with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is about to go down the drain.
Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs) aired his concerns on social media tonight, saying “We have to recognize this BS.” The problem is not from Ryan’s side with DAZN.
Showtime executive Stephen Espinoza spoke today, hinting that Ryan Garcia will need to jump from DAZN to the network for the upcoming fight.
This obviously won’t work, as DAZN wants to be a partnership, and they won’t let Ryan jump to fight on Showtime.
Espinoza pointed out that the promoters are driving things, indicating that Tank Davis’ management at Mayweather Promotions and PBC are the ones who want him to be on the Showtime special without DAZN’s involvement. This will never work.
DAZN has been streaming Ryan’s fights on their platform, and they won’t let him pass Showtime for his big fight against Tank Davis.
While Ryan is seen as almost a no-win by boxing fans, this is all the more reason why it is important that DAZN relegates him to the second tier because his career will be in dire straits if he loses. in the hands of Tank Davis.
If all that’s left of Ryan after this fight is a Kambosos-esque fighter with no credit, he won’t be worth DAZN.

Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza for Fight Hub TV said “We’re looking at where the partnership has been, it’s been in the biggest events of all time.”
“It’s hard to explain how much more difficult it is with a partner joined at the hip with every conversation. We saw the crazy results with Mayweather-Pacquiao, like with the tickets not being sold until the week of the fight just to choose one.
There are more problems than ‘let’s do it together.’ It affects different areas and makes things difficult. And then there is the part, ‘Is it necessary?’
“We’ve seen Top Rank fighters released to continue on DAZN. We’ve seen DAZN fighters released to advance to the next level. Probably DAZN’s biggest fighter since they started. Anthony Joshua made his big fight on Sky Sports in the UK.
“So if I’m Ryan Garcia, I’m asking, ‘Wait a minute. So this guy can pass, and Anthony Joshua, who is important to the business, can go somewhere else. I had a life-changing experience. and the most important fight of my life, and I don’t have the flexibility to go?’” Espinoza said.
As you can see, Espinoza is making it clear that he wants Ryan Garcia to jump ship and come to Showtime so they can do a single presentation and broadcast without DAZN.
That’s not going to happen, and if they’re going to keep spinning their wheels in negotiations, hoping DAZN will let Ryan come to Showtime, they’re wasting their time. Showtime, Mayweather Promotions, and PBC can move on because the fight won’t happen.
“There was one part that was offered,” Espinoza said. “The tank side made an offer. They are running a business offering. They have a specific idea on how the network should work. I didn’t, and that’s where things are.
“DAZN will insist on joining anyway. This may or may not kill the opportunity. I don’t want that to happen. We are working so that it doesn’t happen, but at the same time, there are other business realities.
“Obviously Mayweather Promotions is involved in this. They are in the conversation. Nobody wants to be an obstacle in this, but at some point, there is real business.
“I’d say it’s close. There are few issues. Some are big and some are small,” said Espinoza.
