Gill began moving with his moves, using his boxing power to keep the younger Martinez at bay. In the second, Martinez did a little better as he was able to get in close enough to land a few shots. In the third, Martinez got a strikeout and the right-hander chased Gill. Gill recovered well, boxing and moving as Martinez chased him down. Towards the end of the round, Gill was knocked down for the second time in the fight.

Gill boxed well in the fourth, but was dropped in the third by a hard right hand. Every right hand that lands rocks Gill. Gill’s face was very pale, and he was running. A big shot sent Gill down again in the fourth and the bout was ruled out when coach Dave Coldwell threw in the towel.
