By Charles Brown: Oleksandr Usyk says he doesn’t want to hurt Tyson Fury when or if the two meet next year for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

Instead of going for a knockout, the much smaller IBF, WBA & WBO champion plans to take out the WBC champion Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) to win a decision.

The battle will be like a ‘David vs Goliath’ the type of match in which the diminutive 220+ lb Usyk tries to defeat the giant ogre Fury to become a four-belt heavyweight champion.

Usyk will use his speed, movement, and sharp kicks to slay the giant, defeating the 6’9″ Fury as he does so with speed and athleticism. Anthony Joshua.

Fury can enter the fight in the 260s and try to use his size to maul & club Usyk to launch various punches thrown around.

Hopefully, Fury keeps it clean and refuses to throw the rabbit punch we saw him use to great effect against Deontay Wilder.

With Sugarhill Steward as his trainer, Fury changed his fighting style, going from being a boxer to a pure walker-like mauler who relied on his opponents and hit them with short punches at close range. .

It’s a lazy way, but it’s worked for Fury in his last three fights against Dillian Whyte and Wilder.

One cannot expect Fury to break away from that old 1950’s style on southpaw Usyk as he will be on the move the entire time and will not allow him to rely on his gargantuan frame.

“He is a great person who is very skilled; he knows what to do. It won’t be easy, I know it, but I’m ready,” Oleksandr Usyk told Interia about his possible clash with Tyson Fury in 2o23.

I will do anything to win. When I entered the ring, I never gave myself a task to take out another athlete,” Usyk continued.

I want to win, but I don’t want to hurt anyone,Usyk said.

“Now, he’s running around saying, I don’t want to fight you,” Usyk told Top Rank Boxing about Fury. “I know that,” Usyk said when asked if he believed Fury was afraid of him.

“He’s big; he is smart; he is dangerous and knows what to do in the ring. Yes, I want to fight him, and we need to unite all positions,” said Usyk.
