Kambosos Wasn’t Happy With Haney’s Hold From His Previous Crisis | Biden News

By Adam Baskin: George Kambosos Jr. is still upset about the number of holds Devin Haney made the last time they faced off in June. Haney was not penalized for his hold, and if he had been, it might have changed the outcome more or less.

Haney (28-0, 15 KOs) used some clinching to break up Kambosos offense when he got inside on him. It worked perfectly for him to win a decisive 12-round decision.

Whether Haney goes overboard with his persuasion is up to the viewers. What we do know is that the referee who fought the fight last June felt that Haney was not going too far in holding Kambosos, so he let it go.

On Saturday night, October 15th, Kambosos (20-1, 10 KOs) will have a chance to even score on his home turf at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. The fight will be shown on ESPN & ESPN+ in the States.

The 29-year-old Kambosos is expected to enter the fight with a different game plan from the first fight, and he may be more aggressive. Most would agree that Kambosos will need to put pressure on Haney to have a chance to win.

This is where I will show myself under these lightsbut right now, I’m done,” Kambosos Jr. told Fighthype about his fight against Haney on Saturday.

“That’s how the fight was. I’m sorry for the fans, harden myself. “It’s not a friendly fight,” Kambosos said of Haney, who allegedly caught him 59 times in their first fight last June.

“We are very happy with the news that we have a great referee,” said Kambosos. “He likes to let the fight go, and he lets the inside work,” Kambosos said.

The last time they fought, Haney controlled it from the outside, using his jab to blow up Kambosos’ face.

When Kambosos would come inside to try and take him down, Haney would expertly tie him up so he wouldn’t land his punches.

Big fight ahead for Haney

“We are very grateful for what happened on June 4. We know we have our work cut out for us,” Bill Haney told Pro Boxing Fans. “We keep our noses down and keep grinding. We want to make the best fights happen. Those are the wars that people love.

“It’s not just the fighters calling it that might be 160 or something like that. We’re looking to make the big fights happen, and we take that very seriously.

“This is a big fight,” Bill said about Haney and the possibility of his next fight against Vasily Lomachenko. “Vasyl Lomachenko is a great fighter, but I believe there is something special about Devin, and if we get together with George Kambosos, we will see.

“Say it’s his [Gervonta Davis] name, so it makes you think about this war. Who do you think is a great fighter? I’m very sensitive to the voice of the crowd, and yes, that’s one of the names we’re hearing,” Bill said of the desire for a fight between Haney and Gervonta Davis.

“We will force them to do business with George Kambosos on October 16.”
