By Dan Ambrose: Ryan Garcia and Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis could fight each other next. They both posted the word “done” on Twitter today, indicating that the fight between them has been settled.
Unsurprisingly, Tank Davis (27-0, 25 KOs) deleted his post, so it’s unclear if the fight is on or not.
Although Tank frequently deletes his posts shortly after posting them, this could mean he has changed his mind about the fight against the undefeated Ryan (23-0, 19 KOs). The fact that Tank, 27 years old, deleted the message he “made” could mean that he is having second thoughts about the fight.
Tank vs. Ryan is a fight that is still too early to make because he hasn’t had enough time to marinate to become the mega-fight that he can be. The reason why Davis-Garcia will happen now in December is that if they wait until next year or 2024, Ryan Garcia can beat him with someone else.
Let’s face it; The 23-year-old Kingry has yet to face any serious competition in his career to show boxing fans that he is an elite fighter.
Heck, Ryan hasn’t even proven he’s a good candidate because the best names on his resume are Javier Fortuna and the acquitted Luke Campbell, none of whom are in the same league as talented as Shakur Stevenson, Isaac Cruz, or Vasyl Lomachenko.
An agreement was made ππ

Whether you think you are managing things or not, understand that it will not help you in WARβ¦ let this be a reminder to make it happen by giving him excuses!! I believe in you and I know I beat him. That’s why I said yes. While you said but no I need this and that. SOFTY https://t.co/TIIW98Vz8A

It’s hard to get excited about this fight because Ryan is still an unproven fighter and suddenly he’s a combination of a boy and a boxer.
As I said, if Davis vs. Garcia won’t happen until next year or 2024, the chances of Ryan losing in the interim are high.
The only way Ryan won’t lose to anyone is if Golden Boy continues to match him carefully, carefully, and pit him against old washed up guys like Matchroom boxing coach Eddie Hearn does with Welterweight Conor Benn.
If Ryan proves himself by beating these guys, his fight with Tank Davis will be HUGE:
- Jose Zepeda
- Regis Prograis
- Jose Ramirez
- Josh Taylor
- Subriel Matias
- Teofimo Lopez is the original
- Gary Antoine Russell
I don’t know that Ryan beat any of these fighters from the 140-lb division because most people would take him easy.
At 135, Ryan should fight these guys:
- Vasyl Lomachenko
- Shakur Stevenson
- Jaime Ortiz
- Isaac Cruz
- Michel Rivera
