By Dan Ambrose: Dmitry Bivol deserves the 2022 Man of the Year award for his victories over Superstar Canelo Alvarez and former WBO Super Middleweight champion Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez (44-1, 30 KOs).
No other fighter in boxing can match those two wins going into 2022, which means that Bivol should be this year’s top fighter without question.
With the way WBA bantamweight champion Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) outclassed Zurdo Ramirez last Saturday, and his win over Canelo last May, he showed a skill that no one will can in two main parts. game.
It’s amazing how Bivol has risen to the top of the game after only two wins this year, going from being a fighter that only boxing fans know about to this guy who is almost a household name.
If Bivol can continue his growth next year by beating Canelo again and possibly IBF/WBC/WBO heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev, he could be the face of boxing tonight.
“He was a genius; It was a bright bivol that we saw on Saturday night. He doesn’t shout and shout, and if there’s one thing he lacks, it’s the ability to sell himself,” Gareth A. Davies told Talksport Boxing about WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.

“What we have seen about Bivol this year, I give him more chances than Beterbiev, who is limited but strong. So the key in this fight, and he is [Beterbiev] big man, I know they are in the same class.
“The key to Beterbiev is to beat him with punches, reset and move, which he is [Bivol] able to do. He can do it for 12 rounds,” said Gareth.
“He didn’t look like he was blowing up after 12 rounds. He has that almost poker face where even if he gets tagged, you don’t see any reaction,” Ade Oladipo said of Bivol.
“It was a good answer for him on Saturday. Although Gilberto campaigned at 168, he was bigger than Bivol, he was bigger, and he wasn’t afraid to get in there with the big man, and, at times he started to throw hands and the risk of coming back. He was warmly welcomed.
“I asked him the week of the fight, ‘Why are you so confident,’ and he said, ‘I’ve been doing this since I was six years old.’ It’s all natural for you. To him, he was like Lomachenko or Usyk, easy. ‘I’ve been doing it since I was six years old,’ Oladipo said of Bivol.
“It makes it look easy,” Davies said. “Gilberto Ramirez is a must [for Bivol]. He was the #1 fighter in the WBA.”
“Buatsi was at ringside [for Bivol-Ramirez last weekend],” Oladipo said about Joshua Buatsi. “He asked a lot of questions, saying, ‘Bivol is good, but I see a lot of mistakes and openings.’ Yarde will play Beterbiev in February, and we don’t know what will happen with injuries; Beterbiev seems to be carrying injuries.
“Canelo’s hand surgery, and we don’t know if he’ll be ready for May. Can Buatsi be a one-stop fight? I feel like I’m being disrespected by saying that because Buatsi deserves a little more than a fight. -a-hear.

“Yes, because Buatsi is very tough. We don’t know, until he reaches this level, how much he has in him. We don’t know what he has yet because Joshua is the same size as Bivol. He is strong. very physical and determined.
“We’ll say this about Joshua Buatsi forever, but he’s been in pain since the Rio Olympics in 2016, where he won bronze. It could be his moment, and he could get that shout. If Eddie [Hearn] He wants to do it, he will do it, but I know he wants to fight Canelo for Bivol. He openly said this.
“He could go to the top of the pound-for-pound list. It’s been good work, timing, and the right things with the way he does things,” Gareth said of Bivol.
“Once he stays in the ring in this fight, it’s a great lesson because Ramirez is a dangerous fighter, and a southpaw, of course. He [Bivol] all those angles have been dealt with,” says Gareth.
“It’s a sweet victory [for Bivol] in terms of points, good for Bivol,” said Oladipo. “I think we’re looking at a special fighter. I’ve got to tell you the truth; I slept on him. I saw him against Joe Smith, and I saw him against Craig Richards.
“I think he’s good, but I don’t see him as special,” Oladipo said of Bivol, with his wins over Richards and Smith. “Now I’m looking at him. His hands are very loose, his feet are big, and he has a respectable punch.
“I’ve seen Gilberto Ramirez a few times put him on the ropes, and I’m thinking, ‘Go ahead, Gilberto. This is your chance.’ He was scared and unloaded because he was afraid of the counter [Bivol] he can do anything; he is a perfect boxer. I don’t know what he can’t do, and I want to keep going.
“Continued, pound-for-pound is #1, undisputed in any weight class [168 & 175]. The future is bright for Bivol,” said Oladipo.
