By Sean Jones: Eddie Hearn says Canelo Alvarez will be keeping a close eye on Dmitry Bivol and Gilberto ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez this weekend.

Hearn stated that Canelo (58-2-2, 39 KOs) still wants a rematch with Bivol (20-0, 11 KOs), although he would favor Ramirez (44-0, 30 KOs) because he being from his native country of Mexico.

Obviously, Canelo was upset about what Bivol did to him last May when he took him to school, whipping him in front of his fans at one of his favorite venues at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Hearn said Canelo told him he could hit in two months, and he believes he will be ready to return to the ring in May.

Canelo had his cast removed earlier this week from his surgically repaired left hand, which he recently had surgery on. If Canelo can fight in May, there is a chance he could face Bivol in a rematch.

According to Hearn, Bivol is “excited” to fight Canelo next, but he also wants to fight for the undisputed IBF/WBC/WBO light heavyweight title. Artur Beterbiev.

Hearn said the problem with this fight is that Beterbiev will be defending against his WBO challenger Anthony Yarde in February. Beterbiev is also dealing with injuries, so it is unclear when he will be free to fight Bivol.

This is good for Canelo and his fans because we may see Bivol meet the Mexican star again next May. Of course, Bivol still needs to win Saturday night against Ramirez to have a shot at fighting Beterbiev or Canelo.

“When he said he wasn’t interested, I thought he was interested, but I think he’s looking at it without a fight at the same time,” said Eddie Hearn to Fight Hub TV, responding to Dmitry Bivol saying he’s not interested in the next Canelo Alvarez fight.

“Dmitry Bivol, it’s all about the legacy, really, and for him, the legacy comes from the belt and it’s undisputed. Canelo Alvarez has his [left hand] job. He and Eddy Reynoso will be watching this fight at the end of the week.

“From Mexico’s point of view, I’m sure they want Zurdo to win, but from their point of view, I think they want revenge against Dmitry Bivol. We will see what happens this weekend, but it is a very important fight.

“The next day I spoke to Saul, he said he will be able to punch in two months. There is no reason why he won’t fight in Mayin my opinion, but it depends on who it will be against.

“The Bivol fight will be a very difficult fight for Canelo Alvarez, but he definitely wants to try to get revenge,” Hearn said.

Well, Canelo made it to training camp without any setbacks with his operated left arm. Everything is possible. If Canelo can make it through training camp, a rematch with Bivol is a real possibility, as long as Beterbiev is not available because this is the fight Dmitry wants.

“The problem is, he agreed to fight [Anthony] Agreed in February, he’s also injured,” Hearn said of IBF, WBC & WBO light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev.

“I don’t think this fight will come until mid-summer, but this is a great fight. I believe Bivol is the best 175-pounder in the world, but Beterbiev is a great fighter. So this is a great fight.

“We want to work with Dmitry, but he has to pass Zurdo. This is a very tough fight. Actually, before the Canelo Alvarez fight, it was understood that it was 50-50, but after his victory over Canelo, I I think Bivol started as the favorite,” Hearn said.
