Bryan Chevalier was able to breathe again.

It was another successful trip to the scales for the 5’11” prospect from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, who weighed in at 129.6 pounds for a ten-round mini-fight against the late Cesar Juarez. The two men clashed on this ProBox show Wednesday at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan.

Mexico City’s Juarez came in right at the 130-pound limit for the main event, which takes place as part of the annual WBO event.

The fight is the second at or above lightweight for Chevalier (17-1-1, 13KOs), who moved up from featherweight earlier this year. His last fight at 126 came in a ten-round victory over James Wilkins last July 9 in Los Angeles, after which he realized it was time for a change.

“I really felt he was going into this fight,” Chevalier told BoxingScene.com. “I have training and I’m always put in the work to do the heavy lifting. But this training camp is very difficult to lose those last few pounds. I feel healthier fighting at this higher weight. I want to stay here long enough to win the World Cup.”

Chevalier-who won nine in a row-first due to facing his friend Boricua Angel Aponte. Those plans were canceled last week when—as BoxingScene.com previously reported—Aponte was charged in absentia with domestic violence and endangering the welfare of a minor. It happened earlier this summer. Juarez (27-12, 20KOs) agreed to fight on a little more than a week’s notice.

The 31-year-old former title challenger has lost his last two bouts, but gave a full account of himself in an eighth-round, knockout loss to Otar Eranosyan on September 9 in Plant City, Florida. Juarez was most famous for his fight of the year with Nonito Donaire in the December 2015 WBO 122-pound title at the same venue as Wednesday’s event.

Below are the weigh-ins for the card, with the first fight set to begin at 6:30pm ET.
