Australian boxer Billy Dib has opened up about his battle with himself, calling him “the toughest opponent I’ve ever faced”.
Dib underwent surgery to remove a tumor from his stomach last month, but revealed that he has now been diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
The former IBF and IBO featherweight champion took to social media on Tuesday afternoon to update his fans, saying the results of his surgery were “not what I was hoping for”.

He wrote in a post on his Instagram page that: “I have been in deep trouble many times in life before and by the grace of God (Allah), I have faced the struggles that are ahead of me in the past.
“Cancer is the opponent that I have faced but I want you to know that I am fighting stronger than I am fighting and God willing I will overcome this terrible disease.”
The 37-year-old Kogarah said the plan is to start treatment for meningitis “as soon as possible”.
“Even though I know it’s going to be tough, I have to make this journey like so many others do every day with the support of their medical professionals, family and friends.
“In difficult times, I know I’m not alone. I have God, my wife, son, family and all of you behind me. Your prayers, kind words and support all help me when I need inspiration.
“I know you will understand that I will be less active on social media to focus on this challenge before me but please know that your messages of support are not seen or appreciated.
“I promise to give this new challenge everything I have, with my beautiful family, I have a lot to live for to give less than 100 (percent).”
Dib held the IBF title from 2011 to 2013, and the IBO super-featherweight title in 2008.
He has won 48 of his 56 professional fights, with 27 of those victories coming by KO.
