By Dan Ambrose: Abel Sanchez’s trainer has predicted that IBF/WBC/WBO light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev will be a “tough fight” for WBA fighter Dmitry Bivol when the two meet.
Sanchez said Beterbiev (18-0, 18 KOs) has the punching power and ability to take anything Bivol (21-0, 11 KOs) has to offer, making it a tough fight for him.
Bivol will need to be more defensive against Beterbiev than he was in his fight with Gilberto Ramirez because he is stronger and has a better game inside.
Beterbiev is one of Bivol’s two main options for his next fight in 2023. Bivol prefers a fight with Beterbiev over a rematch with Canelo Alvarez because he is focused on his legacy and wants a chance to compete. unusual champion at 175.
Beterbiev won’t be available to fight Bivol, however, until September 2023, and it doesn’t make sense for him to sit idle waiting for this fight to happen.

“Beterbiev is a tough fight [for Bivol] for he is a great drunkard, and he can take anything. Jidda Zurdo was a little slow to reach him.
“Beterbiev doesn’t have the credentials that Bivol does. Bivol, I’ve always said, is Gennadiy Golovkin, only 15 kilos heavier and a little smaller.
“This is a difficult fight. I would hate to be against him [Bivol] again because he has some of that talent built into some of the best fighters in Europe.
“He will not be defeated. He wouldn’t let Beterbiev do his thing. Bivol is so good at not letting men get in their way, not letting men do what they want to do, and it’s gotten to the point where Beterbiev won’t be a bigger man than him.
“I thought it would be a case of Zurdo being bigger and taller, but it seems like Bivol has the tools to beat guys like that. I saw him spar. He got away from some of my guys.
“Actually, he didn’t show me that in sparring, but again, that’s scary. In fights, he seems to be very good. That’s why I think Zurdo will have a good or easy time because of his height and size.
“I don’t think people give Canelo enough credit for his true talent,” Sanchez said.
