Popular Seychellois singer Tanya has won the Mauritius Music Awards 2022

Seychellois singer Tanya won the Best Island Artist – Seychelles award Mauritius Music Awards 2022 Held last month.

Tanya was among some 26 artists and teams who were honored at the event held at the Sports Complex in Cote d’Or. He is the second Seychellois to win the award after Eliza in 2020.

“This award is a great achievement in my music career, as it is recognized internationally, and it will open the door to many new projects,” Taniyah told SNA on Tuesday.

The singer, who is well known in Seychelles for songs like ‘Pa Sanse’ (Unlucky), Kesu and “Lopinion” (Opinion), says it has not been easy to make her mark in the region.

“I think the main thing for me is that I grab opportunities when they present themselves, which I think is what brought me here,” he said, adding that Mauritians relate a lot to his songs, especially love songs.

The Mauritius Music Awards was created by Elysium: Events & Clubbing with the objective of rewarding Mauritian and regional island artists for their achievements in the music industry.

For the 27-year-old, this is a huge milestone in his career, and he said that in 2023, fans can expect some new tracks and collaborations from him, although a new album may be some way off.

“I hope that through this award I will get more recognition, where more artists and record labels can work with me in the future, but above all, I will continue to be humble and grateful for what I have here,” he added.

Popular Mauritian singer Alain Ramanisum won the Gold Award.

Other artists recognized at the awards ceremony are popular Mauritian artists such as Blakkayo, Laura Begg, Mr. Love, Linzy Backboat and Authentic Groove.
