APRA and Australian Mechanical Copyright Owners Society (AMCOS) chief executive Dean Ormston said the awards helped celebrate “our industry emerging from the shadow of the pandemic”.
“This year’s Screen Music Awards are a true celebration of the artistry of Australia’s screen music community… and a celebration of the brilliance of Australian screen composers.”

“Life as a screen composer can be fairly isolating at the best of times and the past few years have been particularly trying for many.

Composer Nigel Westlake received Distinguished Service at the Australian Screen Awards for his work across film and television.
“I have had the great fortune to work closely with many of Australia’s most visionary and dynamic managers for more than three decades,” Westlake said.
“I am deeply humbled to be recognized for my contribution to the Australian film industry and feel fortunate to be part of an extremely diverse, creative and passionate community of filmmakers.”
