After much speculation, the Canadian Football League has finally announced that Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard, Jordan Davis and Canadian country musician Josh Ross will be the halftime entertainment at the 109th Gray Cup in Regina on Nov. 21.
Hubbard, one-half of the multi-platinum country duo Florida Georgia Line, has had an extensive career. He has 19 number one singles to his name on country radio and has won numerous music awards since the duo formed in 2010. Hubbard is set to release her self-titled solo debut in January.
The first single from that album, “5 Foot 9,” has already reached No. 1 at Canadian radio and has 185 million global streams. In anticipation of his debut solo album, Hubbard released a six-song project titled “Dancin’ In The Country” this past summer that already has more than 200 million worldwide streams.
Davis recently reached No. 1 for the fourth time with the title track from his 2021 EP, “By Dirt (featuring Luke Bryan).” The triple-platinum hit was nominated for single, song and event of the year at the Country Music Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards. The single joins three songs from her debut album Home State – “Singles You Up”, “Take It From Me” and “Slow Dance in a Parking Lot” – that reached the top of the charts.
Winner of Best New Country Artist at the 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards, Academy of Country Music Male Artist of the Year and two-time nominee for Billboard’s Top New Country Artist in 2018. His current single, “What My World Spins Around” was recently certified gold in Canada.
The duo will be joined by Burlington, Ontario’s Josh Ross to add a Canadian flavor to the halftime show.
The former Western University Mustang defensive back made his major-label debut with “On a Different Night” before following it up with the summer anthem “Tall Boys” and the gold-certified ballad “First Taste of Gone,” which found its way. entered the top-five on the Canadian Country Music Chart and the Canadian Hot 100. Ross was nominated for a 2022 Rising Star at the Canadian Country Music Awards.
The 109th Gray Cup will be played at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Sunday, November 20 with kickoff set for 6 pm ET. The sold-out contest and the Twisted T Gray Cup halftime show will be broadcast live on TSN and RDS across the country.
