Taylor Swift won Video of the Year at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night.

In his speech, he revealed that he’s dropping his new album on October 21, with more details to follow at midnight that night.

Swift set two records with the win: the only artist to win three VMAs for Video of the Year and the first artist to win for a video they directed.

Swift won the VMA for Best Longform Video for “All To Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version)” starring Sadie Sink, which Swift thanked in her speech, as well as the award for Best Direction.

Lil Nas X and Harlow won Best Collaboration for “Industry Baby.” “And it’s for champions,” Lil Nas said onstage, quoting the lyrics while accepting the award

Harry Styles wins Album of the Year harry’s house accepting the VMA for Album of the Year at Madison Square Garden, where he was scheduled to perform that night. Lisa beat out the likes of BTS to take home the VMA for Best K-Pop, even though BTS was nominated for Group of the Year (they did not attend).

Lizzo won a VMA for “Video for Good” for “About Damn Time.” “I don’t know what ‘video for good’ means, but I know what your vote means… Your vote means everything,” he said in his speech, “Vote to change some of the laws that oppress us.” She was apparently responding to comedian Aries Spears’ fat-shaming comments that recently went viral.

Bad Bunny became the first Latin artist to win Artist of the Year, moments before performing live from Yankee Stadium as part of his “Bad Bunny: World’s Hottest Tour,” marking MTV’s first live remote VMAs performance to be broadcast from the stadium. Dove Cameron was named Best New Artist.

Johnny Depp made a few brief appearances with his face digitally superimposed on a floating astronaut’s helmet (the VMA trophy, nicknamed the “Moon Person,” is shaped like an astronaut). “I needed work,” he joked.

Harlow opened the show with Fergie and a performance by Lizzo followed by performances of “First Class” and “Glamourous”. Other 2022 VMAs performers include Eminem and Snoop Dogg, Bad Bunny, Kane Brown (the first male country artist to perform at the VMAs), Anitta, Blackpink, J Balvin, Maneskin, Marshmello x Khalid and Panic! At the disco.

Instead of the traditional host, this year’s event will feature three “emcees”: LL Cool J, Nicki Minaj and Jack Harlow. MTV said the trio will announce the show’s lineup of performers, presenters and winners while taking a “more innovative and unique approach” to the traditional hosting gig.

Minaj also received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, while the Red Hot Chili Peppers won the Global Icon Award at the show, which will air live from the Prudential Center in New Jersey, New Jersey beginning at 8 pm ET/PT.

Minaj and The Chili Peppers also performed at the show — and took home awards for best hip-hop and best rock, respectively.
