“One Mississippi” singer Ken Brown has scored a leading four nominations to lead the fan-voted field for the 2022 CMT Music Awards, which will be handed out next month. Kelsey Ballerini, Mickey Guyton and first-time nominees Breland and Cody Johnson are right behind with three nominations each.
All five are up for video of the year awards, including tracks by Brandi Carlyle, Cole Swindell and Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, Luke Combs, Maren Morris, Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift. Chris Stapleton.
The top nominees from the first round of voting will be announced on April 4. Finalists for the second round, will be announced on show day a week later. Final voting will be determined via social media and announced as the final category during the live show. See the list of nominees as they stand below.
There are 10 first-time CMT Music Award nominees this year. In addition to Breland and Johnson, the rookies are Brittany Spencer, Caitlin Smith, Elvie Shane, Mackenzie Porter, Priscilla Block, Tenille Arts, Tar and Lanny’s Paul Klein.
This year’s awards also include a first-time category — CMT Digital First Performance of the Year, which recognizes an artist’s performance created for CMT Digital in the past year.
Ballerini and Anthony Mackie will host the trophy show, which is being televised for the first time on CBS. The network will air the show live from Nashville on April 11. It will also be available to stream on-demand on Paramount+, and CMT will air an “extended cut” — featuring an additional 30 minutes of performances and more on April 15. .
