Resident Evil 7 was one of the few major releases to get PlayStationVR support back in the day. Unfortunately, the PC version of the game never received a VR update, but Capcom may be looking to make things right with Resident Evil Village.
Resident Evil Village is getting a VR version for PlayStation VR2. This time though, it may not be a full exclusive. In a recent Resident Evil Village update for PC, data miners found new code strings pointing to PC VR headset support.
As found by u/LitheBeep on Reddit, Resident Evil Village on PC now includes strings for OpenVR, SteamVR and some popular PC-only virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.
Whether or not Resident Evil 7 will receive a similar treatment remains to be seen. Currently, Resident Evil Village VR has been announced only for PlayStation VR2.
KitGuru Says: VR strings like this have existed in other games before, but it doesn’t always lead to an announcement or official release. However, it would be a shame to see Capcom skip PC VR support for the second time. Hopefully sometime after the PS VR2 version arrives, we’ll get confirmation of an update for the PC version.
