MARIETTA, Ga. – Continuing her spotless start to a freshman season littered with individual W’s, Paige Wehrmeister and the rest of the Presbyterian College women’s wrestling team enjoyed another largely successful tournament Saturday night at the Life Duals in Marietta, placing four separate competitors within the top four of their respective weight classes. Behind the second 1 of the rookieSt-place prize in a row at 136, PC presented a runner-up finish of Samantha Miller (101), a 3rd-place standing from Cassandra Lopez (109, and 4th-place to climb by Sierra Marie Miller (130).

Posting 17 wins overall among the seven wrestlers at Eagle Madness, the Blue Hose captured four championship placements already in just two tournaments six days apart, wrapping up a very busy weekend with many positive developments. PC will now set their sights on a head-to-head series against Limestone in Gaffney on November 20, backing up their second straight multi-team event that ended with plenty of hardware.

NOTES
– Soaring to an 8-0 personal record during the first week of the 2022-23 season, Wehrmeister once again decimated the competition through the 136-lb. group in continuation of one of the most relevant debuts by a Presbyterian newcomer in recent memory. Capturing the win over Life’s Coleby Velasquez, Brewton Parker’s Jorie Richardson, and Valerie Hamilton (unattached) all by the same lopsided score of 10-0 technical falls, Wehrmeister collected her second title in as many attempts on Saturday to maintain a perfect resume.

– One of the three computer presenters has already obtained 1St-place award in the early stages of the fall schedule, junior Samantha Miller added 2n.d-put an end to her tally in the 101-lb. class at Eagles Madness, dropping her first two opponents by a combined score of 14-0. Despite falling to King’s Jessica Corredor in the championship round, Miller improved her personal record to 6-1 on the year to give Presbyterian their fifth top-two honor in just two tournaments.

– Engage in six matches over a loaded 109-lb. assembly (after also competing yesterday in the head-to-head against Life), Cassandra Lopez compiled her second top four ranking of the season with 3rd-place a grip behind four consecutive W’s. Allowing just two points in those four wins while recording 20 of her own, the redshirt senior’s path through the consolation bracket proved a worthwhile endeavor after starting the day with a loss to eventual class champion Sage Mortimer (King).

– Avenging an opening round defeat at the hands of Ferrum’s Jazmene Molina to take victory in the consolation rematch later in the day, sophomore Sierra Marie Miller landed 4th-place finish in the 130-lb. bracket thanks to a trifecta of W by a 28-1 added margin. Although King’s Montana Delawder won the 3rd-place attack victory, Miller was able to collect double-digit points in a pair of victories to join Lopez with two top four standings on the year.

– Making her season debut 24 hours earlier in the doubles against the host school, Life, Catherine “CG” Bertrand mounted four separate victories in six outings on Saturday – two on each side of the 123-lb. bracket – to require the 7th– placemark. Topping Aliyanah Rogers (Brewton Parker) and Annika Lindberg (Emmanuel) both with a 4-0 cushion to start his day, Bertrand got the better of Life’s Anna Krejsa 11-6 and University of Cumbria’s Courtney Pittman with a 10-0 tech in. the comforting ending.
