Seguin police say a 35-year-old woman was behind the wheel Sunday when a truck struck and killed a 22-year-old Seguin man.

The Seguin man who was driving the truck stopped at the scene after hitting 22-year-old Adam Sanchez Rodriguez, Seguin Police Officer Sarah Wallace said, releasing more details about the collision.

“According to his mom, it sounded like he was coming home from home,” Wallace said. “We don’t know where he arrived, but he came from home.”

A blue Ford pickup was the first car to hit Rodriguez in the 3500 block of state Highway 46 around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, she said. Witnesses said he was contacted by other vehicles, Wallace said.

According to her, at the time of the accident, Rodriguez was walking along the roadway. The driver of the pickup immediately stopped, Wallace said.

According to her, police officers who arrived at the call found Rodriguez seriously injured. Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Cheryl Sacktleben pronounced him dead at the scene, Wallace said.

The police continue to investigate the accident.

A Seguin man was the third person to be killed or seriously injured when hit by vehicles in about two months on Highway 46 between Seguin and New Braunfels.

One was reported to have sunk on September 7 at around 8.45pm on Krause Lane. A Cibolo woman was killed, according to New Braunfels officials. Alix Trask, 32, was traveling in the right lane toward New Braunfels when a 29-year-old female driver from Seguin struck Trask, killing her.

More than a month and a half later, Seguin police responded to a call about a woman who had been hit by a car around 8:18 p.m. Oct. 26 in the 2900 block of North State Highway 46, authorities said.

Crystal Miller, 45, of Seguin, was taken to a San Antonio hospital in critical condition with serious injuries sustained in the crash, police said. A southbound Ford Ranger struck her, Wallace said at the time.
