Rugby league enforcer Tevita Pangai Jr delivered a stunning performance in his second professional game in the grueling arena.

Fighting on the undercard of the Sonny Bill Williams vs. Mark Hunt match, Pangai Jr. defeated Jeremiah Tupai-ui in the second round with a left jab.

This vicious punch knocked Tupai-ui straight as the referee called the bout.

“Tevita on tears – wow,” commentator Andy Raymond said on Stan Sport.

“Good thing! It will be his pride (Tupai-ui) that hurts more than anything else.”

It was Pangai Jr’s second KO from two fights, after opting to miss Tonga’s Rugby World Cup campaign to enter Saturday night’s clash.

The Bulldogs big man endured a tough 2022 NRL season as he failed to live up to his $2.2 million pay package, and was eventually dropped for the bench.

But after fighting Tupai-ui, Pangai Jr dropped 12 kilograms from his frame and promised to be the coach of the Dogs Cameron Ciraldo will continue to live there in 2023.

“I told him that if I don’t weigh less than 110kg then he can fire me a lot. I’m a man of my word, if I don’t come in at 110kg then I’ll leave,” Pangai Jr told Nine Sydney this week.

“(I) was calm and let the results get to me. But we are professional players, we are paid well to show our passion for our fans and members. I didn’t do that last year.”

Pangai Jr said sitting down with Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould was the “wake-up call” he needed.

“He told me that I need to have a good attitude going into training and he won’t accept the things I did last year, so it was a good wake-up call,” he said.

And Gould was clearly in a good mood after the fight as he highlighted his conversation with Pangai Jr.

“How giz. I better not give TPJ too much trouble!!” he posted on his Twitter page.
