NICK BALL DIES on a huge Mexican test when he is on the bill at York Hall on Friday with the defense of his WBC featherweight title, live on BT Sport.

The 25-year-old takes on Jesus Ramirez Rubio, who has been beaten just once in 24 professional fights in 2017 and undefeated in 15 draws.

A fearless Scouser with a mischievous Mexican take all the elements necessary to create a thriller and Ball himself insists it’s must-see TV.

“You don’t want to lose this,” confirmed Ball (16-0, 9 KOs). “It’s going to be a step up because, you know, Mexicans are born fighters and I’m a fighter.

“That’s what you really need to know, two born warriors fighting each other, it only goes one way, doesn’t it? He had a great KO-ratio, hitting 14 and I knocked out nine.

Ball, from Everton’s famous Red Triangle stadium, expects the traditional ring design to turn yellow.

“There will be bloodshed. That’s what we’re coming for!

“This is one of those fights that will step me up and that’s what I need. Obviously, if a world title opportunity comes up, which I think it will next year, I’ll take it. I’m coming. to go for the world title, the proper belt, not the British title.”

Elsewhere on the York Hall card, Willy Hutchinson returned to heavyweight action when he took out Luca Spadaccini over 10 rounds.

Hutchinson (14-1, 10) made his return to the ring in June with a 3rd round stoppage of Karel Horejsek, his first stoppage since losing to British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Lennox Clarke in March 2021.

Now training in Spain, a rejuvenated Hutchinson will be looking to regain his status as one of Britain’s top prospects.

David Adeleye (9-0, 8) will hit double figures as a professional on Friday when he faces Mexico’s Elvis Garcia in a six-rounder and will look to cement his name in the heavyweight conversation carry on.

“I had a bit of an injury, so I was outside the ring and we managed to get the ball very soon,” said the Ladbroke Grove man. “Now I’m back to my normal routine, but of course it’s frustrating to be at home watching other fighters that you know you can sign and do well on getting a job.

“Now I want to start fighting for titles and be in fights with people who are famous in the world of boxing, names and household names. I know what I can do and now I have to go out and do it.

“Now I’m about 10 fights, it’s up to God’s time and what will happen, and hopefully it will happen soon.

“It’s a good time to be a heavyweight boxer, but I leave the business to the promoter and, if I do what I can do, it’s inevitable that big fights will happen.”

Also showing at the Hall on Friday is new Queensberry recruit Carl Fail (6-0, 2), Northampton super welterweight, and powerhouse cruiserweight Aloys Jr Youmbi (1-1, 1). Ilford featherweight Umar Khan (4-0) and Maidstone welterweight Sean Noakes (2-0, 1) complete the card.
