Conor McGregor has been offered a shot at Dennis Hogan’s IBO Welterweight title.

“We’ve been in contact with both Spike and Conor’s team,” his trainer Steve Scanlan told Irish-boxing.com.

“Spike’s team will move up and down to make this fight, so the fight is easier to happen but we are working through everything.

“If we don’t fight Conor, which is obviously a long shot, but bad things happen, then we will 100% fight Spike in Ireland.”

Hogan, 37, expressed his desire to face McGregor after claiming the IBO belt with a victory over Sam Eggington earlier this month.

When asked if he would be willing to hang up his belt to fight McGregor, Hogan told the Mirror: “If I win, the first thing I’ll do is contact us. [McGregor’s team] and say ‘Is there any chance Conor will like this?’

“I would like to go back to Ireland and be protected there.

“I’m back home, I haven’t fought in Ireland for as long as I’ve wanted to, so it will be good to go back there and defend my title.”

As previously reported, McGregor, 34, is using his recovery time to star in the upcoming remake of The House, which has given him plenty of time to plan his next project.

But as the old saying goes, if you don’t ask, you won’t get.
